Looks like Andoni Zubizarreta, the former Barcelona and Olympique Marseille Sporting Director, has been appointed at Porto by Andre Villas Boas. Their initial move will involve parting ways with a legendary player at the Dragao.
The 41-year-old defender, who was expected to receive a contract extension by da Costa, will not be retained by Porto. Zubizarreta is likely working on finding his replacement and has already made a decision regarding the Real Madrid icon.
Pepe, despite getting older, has earned a spot in Roberto Martinez’s Portugal squad for Euro 2024.
His displays in the Champions League this season have once again proven his knack for troubling Europe’s top forwards.
It’s unclear whether Pepe will choose to retire after leaving Porto or continue playing next season.
