Nigerians are sharing thoughts on a Facebook post by a married Muslim lady, Fatima Ismail Yusuf, where she mentioned that wives aren’t required to do household tasks in Islam.
“According to her post, a wife doesn’t have to clean or cook; it’s the husband’s duty to provide assistance if he can,” she stated.
The post, shared in a Facebook group, sparked diverse reactions, with many, particularly Muslims, mentioning that husbands can also marry their servants. One individual, Tijaani Ahmed, commented, “She’s not entirely off. It’s fine if a man gets his wife help for daily house tasks, but it’s not obligatory. A good wife’s main role is to manage her home effectively.”
Ibrahim Hafsat Aminu added, “If the house help catches the husband’s eye, you can’t complain later, according to Islamic teachings.”
