Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma fell victim to a robbery as two assailants sprayed him in the face with tear gas and stole his luxury watch.
The incident took place as he arrived with his wife at the five-star Majestic Barriere hotel in Cannes on the French Riviera. Bissouma, 27, was attacked by two hooded men as he exited his car on the Promenade de la Croisette, adjacent to the hotel and the seafront. This comes after his £25 million transfer from Brighton to Tottenham in 2022.
The outlet reports that around 4am on Sunday, midfielder Yves Bissouma found himself trying to escape muggers inside a French hotel, only to discover its doors locked. Upon arrival at the Cannes hotel with his wife, Bissouma was sprayed with tear gas and robbed of his £260k watch. The thieves forcibly removed his luxury watch before fleeing in a car. Bissouma and his wife were described as “shocked and dismayed” and decided to return to England on Sunday, despite originally planning to stay in Cannes for several days.
Tottenham issued a statement acknowledging the incident and expressing their commitment to monitoring the well-being of Yves and his family. French police have launched an investigation into the matter.
