A woman asserts that she is the missing individual who disappeared from a bus stop in 1985

An American woman has stepped forward to assert that she is the eight-year-old Pennsylvania girl who disappeared from a bus stop in 1985. Cherrie Mahan was last seen in Winfield Township, Butler County, nearly four decades ago on February 22, after disembarking from a school bus approximately 100 yards from her Cabot residence.

The unnamed woman claimed to be the missing girl, who would now be 47 years old, in a post on the Facebook group ‘Memories of Cherrie Mahan’ on May 23. However, she did not publicly provide a photo, leaving her appearance unclear.

Cherrie’s mother, Janice McKinney, expressed skepticism regarding the woman’s claim. “I truly believe she thought in her mind that she was Cherrie. It did not look anything like Cherrie at all,” McKinney told the Butler Eagle.

A spokesperson from the Pennsylvania State Police informed DailyMail, “We are investigating this woman’s claim to be Cherrie Mahan.”
