AThe tranquility of an American family’s vacation turned to tragedy when a fragment of a badminton racket broke off, fatally piercing their 6-year-old daughter Lucy Morgan’s skull during a lakeside trip in Maine. Lucy passed away on Wednesday, June 5, four days following the horrific incident.
The heartbreaking ordeal occurred on Saturday as the Morgan family, consisting of six members from New Jersey, USA, savored their final day at a rented cottage in Limerick, Maine. Jesse Morgan, Lucy’s father and a pastor at Green Pond Bible Chapel in Rockaway, recounted the distressing event in a blog post titled “Calamity Strikes,” revealing that they were having a quick lakeside lunch while the children played badminton in the front yard. Amidst their relaxation, they were startled by screams.
Tragically, a sharp piece of the racket had broken off during a downward swing, striking Lucy while she sat on the sidelines, resulting in a catastrophic injury.
