Man City have reacted to a £25 million transfer offer for Ederson following a contract ultimatum

Manchester City have turned down a £25 million bid from Al-Nassr for Ederson, as the goalkeeper’s future remains uncertain.

The 30-year-old Brazilian has been instrumental for the Premier League champions since joining from Benfica in 2017. Despite interest from Al-Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo also plays, offering a lucrative contract approaching £900,000 per month in the Saudi Pro League, City is determined to retain their No.1.

Although the offer from Al-Nassr is substantial, City values Ederson significantly higher and is prepared to match the financial incentives offered elsewhere. They are set to enter negotiations with Ederson, reportedly planning a 75% pay increase which would see him earn around £1 million monthly, in what is described as a decisive proposal.

City recently extended the contract of Ederson’s backup, Stefan Ortega, indicating readiness to promote him should Ederson depart. Ortega showcased his abilities admirably during Ederson’s absence last season, including starting in the FA Cup final against Manchester United.

Manchester City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, emphasized the importance of retaining Ortega, labeling him as the best backup goalkeeper the club has ever had, providing essential quality and stability.
