A centenarian WWII veteran, returning to France, tied the knot with his 96-year-old sweetheart as global leaders gathered to honor D-Day.

Eight decades ago, soldiers parachuted into Nazi territory to seize Carentan, thwarting German reinforcements during the Normandy invasion, where over 4,000 Allied troops perished.

Last week marked potentially the final major D-Day commemoration with living WWII veterans, yet Harold Terens, aged 100, defied the odds, marrying Jeanne Swerlin, 96, near Normandy’s shores on June 8.

The couple exchanged vows in Carentan’s town hall, a pivotal liberation site for Allied forces, with Terens donning a light blue suit mirroring Swerlin’s attire.

Amidst toasts, Terens advocated for global peace and the resolution of conflicts like those in Ukraine and Gaza.
