Man who stole from same shop 27 times in six months bags jail sentence

A man caught on CCTV repeatedly stealing from the same Co-op store in Bestwood, Nottingham, over a period of six months has been sentenced to jail. Patrick Butler, 43, stole thousands of pounds worth of goods between December and the beginning of this month.

Often returning multiple times in a single day, Butler would enter the store, fill a bag with items, and exit without paying. Initially facing charges for six thefts, Butler missed his court appearances and proceeded to commit 21 additional offenses at the same location.

Butler has now been sentenced to 12 months in jail. In addition, he has been issued a criminal behavior order preventing him from entering the store for two years. Authorities finally apprehended him after he continued to torment Co-op staff on Beckhampton Road by repeatedly stealing items. His thefts included £210 worth of stock on March 12 and items such as cheese and laundry products on March 23. He persisted in stealing from the store on eight more occasions between March 24 and May 2.
