A young footballer, aged 15, is facing the heartbreaking news of having his leg amputated due to cancer

That’s a tough break, mate. A young goalkeeper’s football aspirations were crushed when a minor knee discomfort revealed bone cancer, leading to the necessity of an amputation.

Just two years ago, Jake Last, a Manchester United supporter, was showcasing his skills for Burnley’s Under-14s and was even dubbed ‘The Cat’ for his agility on the pitch.

The 15-year-old is now gearing up for the amputation of his right leg next month as the cancer has advanced despite undergoing chemotherapy and surgery.

Jake, hailing from Chadderton, Greater Manchester, is already envisioning a future where he plays for a top amputee team and possibly even represents England.

His father, John, 54, shared, “I don’t think you will ever get Jake to not be involved in football. He is an incredible lad. He has been exceptional. It’s strange to say, but he lives as if he has never had the disease. The treatment (chemotherapy) has been harsh. But he knows it is impacting the cancer and aiding in its elimination.”
