Former Nigerian Representative Wole Diya Passes Away at 63

Wole Diya, a two-term member of the House of Representatives and former Lagos State House of Assembly member, has died at the age of 63. His death occurred on Friday, August 9th, 2024, just days before his 64th birthday on August 20th.

Diya, a younger brother to the late General Oladipo Diya, represented Somolu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and Somolu State Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Colleagues and associates have paid tribute to Diya, describing him as a leader who exemplified humility, integrity, and dedication to his constituents. He was also remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and commitment to public service.

Chairman of the Bariga Local Council, Hon. Kolade Alabi David, and Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu ‘Dullar’, both expressed their condolences and praised Diya’s leadership and legacy.

Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, also paid tribute, describing Diya as a “rare gem” and a “true champion of the community” who will be greatly missed.”
