Just as the House of Reps did, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has initiated a rapid investigation following the suicide of a soldier within months of another who took his own life.

Sapper Kim Mawa, a 23-year-old from the Royal Engineers, was discovered deceased at Swinton Barracks in Wiltshire on May 7.

His fellow soldiers had expressed worries about the young man’s well-being before paramedics discovered him deceased at 10:22 am. An inquest at Salisbury Coroners Court revealed that he passed away by hanging.

A tribute mentioned, “Spr Mawa, your departure has impacted the entire regiment; we deeply feel your loss. 22 Engr Regt will always remember your smile and its infectious nature. May you rest in peace.”
