Manchester United attempts a last-minute hijack for Tosin Adarabioyo, who is set to join Chelsea

Manchester United launched a late bid to secure the signing of Nigerian-born defender Tosin Adarabioyo. However, negotiations for his move to Chelsea were already too advanced for him to reconsider.

The 26-year-old defender is poised to become the first signing of Enzo Maresca’s tenure in the next 48 hours. He underwent medical examinations on Tuesday and finalized his agreement with Chelsea, pending the official expiration of his contract with Fulham.

Although United had expressed interest in the free agent center-back months ago, it was Newcastle United who initially pursued his signature and came close to reaching an agreement. Chelsea subsequently made an offer last month, followed by an improved contract last weekend after Maresca assumed the managerial role.
