Pope Francis faces investigation for

Pope Francis is under investigation after allegedly authorizing the illegal wiretapping of phones during an inquiry into the sale of a £300 million London property. The Vatican had launched an investigation into allegations of corruption surrounding the sale, which was claimed to have been inflated by British financier Raffaele Mincione.

According to human rights barrister Rodney Dixon KC, Pope Francis gave the green light for investigators to tap phones, intercept emails, and make arrests without judicial approval. The alleged authorization was made based on ancient laws that grant the Pope sweeping powers over such matters.

In a complaint filed with the UN, Mr. Dixon accused the Pope of perpetrating human rights abuses and criticized the lack of oversight and accountability in the investigation. The Vatican claims that Mincione defrauded it out of £124 million by inflating the price of a former Harrods warehouse in Chelsea, which was purchased through a fund managed by Mincione.

The allegations have sparked a major controversy and raised questions about the Pope’s involvement in the investigation and potential violations of privacy and human rights.
