PSG alleges that Kylian Mbappe lacks “any semblance of class”

The relationship between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain is far from smooth. Amid an ongoing financial dispute between the two parties, Mbappé’s recent comments about his departure from PSG have reportedly stirred controversy within the Ligue 1 club, as per AFP.

Following the receipt of a previously withheld loyalty bonus in February, Mbappé notified PSG of his intention to leave the club in the same month. In response, PSG withheld his salary for the last two months, and his June wages are also expected to remain unpaid. Legal representatives from both sides are currently in discussions to resolve the issue, with the possibility of Ligue 1’s legal committee intervening if no agreement is reached, according to L’Équipe.

However, another dispute has arisen. Mbappé’s highly anticipated move to Real Madrid was confirmed on Monday. Shortly after the announcement, he fulfilled his media obligations as the France captain ahead of Wednesday’s Euro 2024 preparation match against Luxembourg.

Although he declined to discuss his transfer to Real Madrid, Mbappé reflected on his season at PSG and his departure. Notably, he mentioned last summer’s incident when he was excluded from the first team, missed the pre-season tour, and even the opening match of PSG’s Ligue 1 title defense, only to be reintegrated later.

“I was given the impression that I would no longer play for PSG [after expressing my desire to leave at the end of the season],” Mbappé stated. “I was directly told, in rather harsh terms, so I was convinced that I wouldn’t be part of the team. Luis Enrique and Luis Campos intervened and saved me. Without them, I would never have returned to the pitch. That’s why my goals were different this season. While it may have fallen short of my usual standards, simply playing, racking up appearances, and winning trophies were my greatest sources of pride. However, next season, I won’t be satisfied with a similar outcome.”
