Senate recalls Ningi from three months suspension
On May 28, the Senate lifted the three-month suspension of Senator Abdul Ningi. Ningi had been suspended on March 12 for alleging in a BBC Hausa Service interview that the National Assembly passed two 2024 Appropriation Bills and that the 2024 budget was inflated by N3.7 trillion.

The Senate refuted these claims, clarifying that the funds were allocated for statutory transfers to federal government institutions as first-line charges before suspending him.

During its plenary session today on May 28, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi’s suspension was revoked after the Senate deliberated on and approved a motion titled: “Motion for the unconditional recall of Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi,” introduced by the Minority Leader, Abba Moro (PDP – Benue South).

Moro stated that the minority leadership of the Senate assumes full responsibility for Ningi’s actions and extended apologies to the Senate on his behalf.

Moro, during his opening statement to the Senate, remarked:
