Update: The cause of death for Mandisa, the singer and Grammy winner from ‘American Idol,’ has been disclosed

Update: American IdolGrammy-winning singer Mandisa, renowned for her participation in season five of “American Idol,” passed away at the age of 47 in April 2024. She was discovered deceased in her Nashville residence by friends on April 18th, with an autopsy report, as obtained by People, confirming that her death resulted from complications associated with class III obesity.

According to the report, Mandisa was last known to be alive approximately three weeks before she was found deceased.

Beginning her career as a contestant on the popular talent show, Mandisa finished in ninth place during the fifth season. Subsequently, she forged a celebrated path in Christian music.

Born in Citrus Heights, California, Mandisa pursued vocal jazz studies at American River College in Sacramento and furthered her musical education at Fisk University in Tennessee.
